Good news! Chocolate may not be so bad for you after all
Who does not love Chocolate, but the thought of just smelling the chocolate and weighing more the next morning without even taking a bite, makes us think chocolate is bad for us, but this is where the good news comes in.
Chocolate doesn't necessarily have to be bad for your waistline or your health.
While chocolate is usually considered indulgent and ofter fattening, a few blocks (please note, not a few slabs) of chocolate two or three times a week should not be a problem.
you do need to pay attention to the type of chocolate that you're eating.
Dark chocolate is considered the healthier option, due to it's higher concentration of flavonoids.
So at this point, you must be wondering what on earth are flavonoids -
Flavonoids are found in plants, as well as cocoa beans, and help fight toxins.
Here are five (5) good reasons why you should not feel guilty about a bit of chocolate:
1. It protects the body against disease
Dark chocolate is high in flavonoids, also found in dark green vegetables, which are known for their health properties.
Here's some great news: Flavonoids have been shown to delay aging and prevent the onset of diseases (such as cancer) by fighting off free radicals.

2. It can protect your heart
Studies show that consuming a small bar of dark chocolate every day can reduce blood pressure.
The flavonoids in dark chocolate also inhibit bad cholesterol, which can cause hypertension and other heart problems.
But .... remember ...... chocolate is still very high in fat (which is not heart healthy) and that the key to managing your diet correctly (just like with your food intake) is maintaining moderation!
3. It can boost your mood
Ever felt that a bit of chocolate made everything feel all better?
Well, it might not only be due to the delicious wonderful taste, but chocolate helps to release serotonin, to put you in a great mood.
It also contains phenylethylamine, which is a mood enhancer and mild anti-depressant.
4. It can give you an energy boost
A stimulant found in chocolate, theobromine, has been found to have a similar affect on people as caffeine, giving a mild energy boost.
--- Theobromine has also been shown to reduce coughing and alleviate asthma.
5. It can reduce symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS)
Men take note!!
Woman pass this on!!
A magnesium deficiency is known to cause many of the symptoms associated with PMS, such as irritability and depression.
The good news is that just four pieces (again not slabs) of dark chocolate contain one eighth of your daily magnesium requirements, giving your body a natural boost of this nutrient.
Magnesium also helps your body absorb calcium correctly, which ultimately helps fight off arthritis and osteoporosis.
PS: this is just added as a bonus, dark chocolate also increases your metabolism.
So, when you take this all into consideration, chocolate may not be so bad for you after all,
so go ahead, sit back, relax and enjoy your 4 pieces of dark chocolate two or three times a week.
