In this post you will find 10 reasons you will never make money with your blog - but don't loose heart, read further -
But before you read further, please note that there might be affiliate links inside this post - please read the Disclosure Policy.
Although the primary purpose of this post is not to let you have hanging shoulders for the rest of the day and think you are a looser - this is reality - let's rather work through it.
There are many reasons why you will never make money with your blog and here are just a few:
1. Too many blogs in your niche
Go to Google search and type in the word: beauty and on the time of writing this post, you will get 721 000 000 results with the word beauty in. If you read this post tomorrow, it will be more. Check it out, it will be interesting to see how much it has changed in a short time.
Let's narrow it down and look for beauty tips, you get 492 000 000 results. Let's narrow it down a bit more to beauty for Women and here you get 296 000 000 results. If we try to narrow it down more and we go for beauty tips for eyes, there are 104 000 000 results.
With all the people creating websites and blogs all over the internet, what do you think your chances are of someone finding you?
But luckily, like with any business you run from a shop, you have the option to advertise. When you start advertising, people will see you more easily, because you are in front of them. So don't despair - this is your solution for this problem.
2. Too many bloggers doing this for 5 or more years
If you look at the sites at the top - they have been around more than 5 years, most of them even 10 years or more. Can you imagine over ten years or let's make it five, if you post only twice a week for the entire year how many posts you will have done in 5 years time. Let me save you the trouble of working it out - it will be 520 posts on average.
One of the things that is important to build your authority and your "place" inside this huge world of the internet is to be able to deliver content. And you must be able to deliver content in a specific niche, otherwise no one is going to find you.
So what will be your solution to this problem: let me know if I'm wrong, but the only solution I can find for this one is to post every day and if you can, post twice a day. But there is a problem with this solution - you will try to post too much content and it will be watered down and not good enough.
You must remember that everything you share must be worth reading.
So, in the end, the solution is to stick in there, you have started and maybe paid for your hosting and whatever other expenses you may have. Write away and enjoy what you are doing, even if for now, nobody is reading it - one day they will.
3. No one linking to your site
It seems in this whole sea of websites and blogs that some of the older bloggers are forgetting that many many years ago, they started at the bottom. There had to be someone to pick them up, help them, lead them and give them a fair chance.
You can read this post on one of my favorite blogs (Daily Blog tips) which is called "pay attention to the little guys", and it is written by Ali Luke. I really enjoyed it and what he wrote there is so true.
But there is a solution for you for this problem too, you must just keep on trying. Give your best and give good true comments on other blogs. Don't just write "good post", if someone wrote that on your site, wouldn't you think - yeah right, he didn't even read what I wrote here.
4. You give up
Ok, let's face it, if you give up, obviously you will never make money with your blog!
This speaks for itself. You get tired of pouring your heart and soul into everything you create and write about. You try your utmost best, spend days and nights in front of your computer. Type, write and read all you can - build, build and build some more. You get the best tools to help you and give everything - and then one day, you just decide it is enough. I can't do this anymore.
I want to tell you to get up, get back on your beautiful blogger horse - take a deep breath and face life again. Don't give up, in the end, maybe not now, maybe in a year or two - you WILL START REAPING WHAT YOU SOWED.
5. You can't handle the negative comments
You wrote this (according to you) awesome post and you gave it your utmost best. Better than that - you cannot do. You even got the SEO right and everything is perfect (according to you). You spent very little time with your family or relaxing, because this is going to be your best work ever. You press the publish button and you cannot wait to see how impressed the people are going to be with this awesome piece of artwork that you have created.
And then ...... here it is..... your first comment..... you are so excited, you open it and there it is - a bad comment - something like ok, what is your point
or you can do better with this or that
or maybe just bluntly - this post needs work, not good at all.
I want to to realize, sadly there will always be people who would like to tell you that they are better than everybody else and they know so much that you cannot teach the anything. This is how life is, you will always have these people around and they will always pour their bitter sad life into everything they do. They will always look at the negative and this is how they will portray everything they do, their way of going through their sad lives every day - negatively.
I want you to remember, you do this according to the best of your abilities. There is place for growth and God let's His light shine upon you, shake yourself loose from the dust of anything negative and continue, stand strong and give YOUR best.
6. Too many people selling the same products
If you do affiliate marketing, you will have allot of people doing affiliate marketing with exactly the same products as you and most of them might be in the business for many years more than you. They have huge lists of subscribers and they have allot of followers, so what are your chances of someone buying anything from you, because these people have more authority than you.
The other downside to affiliate marketing is that you only get a window of let's say 30 - 90 days (depending on the program you are using) for the person who clicked on your link to buy the product. If they don't, the person who got their details is the one you are working so hard for in your affiliate marketing. They filled in their e-mail address and they did not buy within your cookie period, but the affiliate company has their details and they are marketing to them and getting sales after your cookie expired.
The only solution to this problem is to create your own things. You must write your own books, create your own products or be able to sell something that you are making, like hand made cards or what about teaching people through video tutorials how to write calligraphy, starting with what pens to use and taking it stroke by stroke, letter by letter and then the final product. Just remember if you do video's, it must be good quality, otherwise people will not watch it up to the end and the thing that is trending at this moment is rather make it shorter, but interesting. People don't watch that long anymore. If you are looking for an awesome Video editor, read my post on my video.
7. You just don't get it
On the outside, people are reading what you are posting and do not realize how this entire thing is set up. If you have a self hosted WordPress blog, there are allot of technical things that is difficult to figure out. If you don't understand HTML, CSS, feeds, plugins, dashboards, tools, settings and all the other things that makes up your blog work, this can become a huge mountain for you and you will feel like you cannot overcome it.
To this problem there is only one solution that I know of and that is to find a good designer (this can be a bit expensive, but the solution if you just don't get it). They do everything for you and all you have to do is create the content.
Or find a good program like Artisteer - #1 WordPress Theme Generator. Instantly create great looking and professional WordPress Themes. that will help you. Please remember if you consider buying Artisteer to first download the free product trial to see if this is going to work for you, because all sales are non-refundable.
8. You can't create something
Well, this might be a big problem, because if you can't create something, like the suggestion in number 6 above, what will you sell except for affiliate products.
God has give each one of us a talent. You love doing something specific. That is your talent, all you must do is grow it. Maybe it is to paint beautiful pictures, maybe you can build things, maybe you are a very funny story teller or you can make interesting sounds like certain birds or a whale - there must be something that you can do and love to do.
Create something about that - maybe teach other people who would love to learn to make sounds like a whale. Or tell your stories to the world in different ways, with video's, comic strips or anything that you can think of.
Relax for a while, ask God to help you and show you a new vision and I am sure that something will develop in your mind.
You can also create your own music and mix it with the DJ Music Mixer
9. Too many things, too little time
Maybe you sit in front of your computer day and night and feel like your computer is eating up your entire life. You are not there for your family anymore, you are not doing the things around the house that you should do anymore.
It is Google+, Pinterest, Facebook, LinkedIn, affiliate news, e-mails, etc, how do you keep up with everything?
The only answer that I know of is keeping a diary and making sure that you have a schedule. Don't try to remember everything you have to do out of your head, you are going to forget something. Don't be too much distracted, try to finish your tasks for the day first and then you can socialize all you want on the social media sites.
If you need allot of help in this category, I would also suggest looking at the "Homeschool blogs I love" at your right side and click on them. You can search on their sites for "time management", because when you homeschool and run a blog, you need to know how to manage your time.
10. Slow learner
If you are a slow learner and you cannot work through allot of information on writing great content or you are struggling to get everything that you have to learn and don't know what to do first and what next.
